The reception party

The reception party is at The Missing Sock.

See the main page for maps to The Missing Sock.

The schedule is something like this:

  • 5.30 onwards: welcome drinks;

  • 6.30 buffet meal. There will be meat and vegetarian food; wine and fruit juice;

  • 7.30 speeches, readings, songs.

Afterwards there will be various things to do:

  • dancing - in a marquee at the back of the main house;

  • karaoke - in a red bus, in the grounds, for the bravest among us;

  • talking - there’s a fire-pit outside to sit around, and a quiet room inside with comfortable chairs, and many comfortable spaces around the bar, which is well away from where the music will be.

We have paid for the drinks before and during the meal, but you may want to bring some money with you to buy drinks after the meal.

Speeches, readings, songs

Instead of the traditional set of speeches after the meal, we’ll have a while where anyone who wants can give a short speech, or read a favorite bit of text, or sing a song. For example, Matthew is going to read a couple of poems he likes. You can read / sing / talk about anything you like - it doesn’t have to be about love or weddings.

Is there a song you’d like played for the dancing?

If there’s a song you’d like hear while we’re dancing, please add it to this document.
